What is tango no sekku?
This is an event handed down from ancient times which is held on May 5, Children's Day.
People express the hope that each boy in the family will grow up healthy and strong by flying carp-shaped streamers outside the house and displaying a warrior doll.
This custom developed in the warrior class of society in the feudal era, but the event was also observed among civilians of the time in a different way.
Women were made superior to men on that day; for example, women took a bath before men and men prepared meals for women.
