Did the country of Yamatai really exist?

According to "The Account of the Wa People" in the Chinese historical text Wei zhi (The Wei Chronicle), Japan in the latter half of the second century was undergoing much strife, with most of the countries at ｗar, but the countries were unified with the accession of Himiko as Queen of Yamatai.
While there is no doubt that Yamatai did exist, for a long time there has been much debate over the actual location of this country.
There are two major theories.
One holds that Yamatai was located in Kyushu, while the other claims that Yamatai was located near Nara Prefecture; the debate continues to this day.
